This small agricultural country is located between Argentina and Brazil and is bordered by the Rio de la Plata and the Atlantic ocean.
Its surface – 187,000 sq. km. - is comparable to that of the State of Missouri or half the size of Germany.
The Uruguayan population today – 3,3 million – is descendant of European immigration of past centuries. The Afro community (3 %) is well integrated and some of its traditions are included in Uruguayan popular music.
